Understanding and serving communities with data.

Explore my research, my textbook on Urban Informatics, and speaking and workshops.

I partner with towns, cities, and communities to take science-driven approaches to advancing policies, programs, and practices—and empowering others to do the same!

If you would like me to speak at your event or lead a training with your organization, please reach out!

My research seeks to deepen our understanding of communities and the systems that support them.

Projects have studied crime, climate resilience, transportation and mobility, housing, education, neighborhood services, and life in the “urban commons.”

Learn the skills of urban informatics yourself!

My textbook Urban Informatics: Using Big Data to Understand and Serve Communities—based on courses I teach at Northeastern University—is available online for free!

Let’s partner!

I lead workshops with municipalities and community organizations on how to incorporate data into their work, whether you have a specific challenge, are looking to better pursue equity, or are just getting started.
